Arialief Side Effects Review: Safety, Interactions and Cautions

Arialief side effects are likely mild at the label dose of 1 capsule, mostly stomach upset. The bigger cautions are interactions: alpha lipoic acid can lower blood sugar, CoQ10 may interact with warfarin and insulin, and L-carnitine may blunt thyroid hormone. The label says not for under 18s, pregnancy or nursing, and to ask a physician if you take medicine.

Part of our Arialief overview. Last checked October 20, 2026.

Arialief side effects are likely mild for most healthy adults, mainly stomach upset, because the label dose is 1 capsule with 80 mg of magnesium, well under the 350 mg a day upper limit for supplemental magnesium[1][3]. The larger concern is medicine interactions, especially for people on diabetes drugs, warfarin or thyroid medicine.

Is Arialief safe? Safety at a glance

Arialief is probably low risk for healthy adults at 1 capsule a day, but it is not a fit for everyone, and the biggest caution is blood sugar. Alpha lipoic acid, one of the six ingredients, can lower blood sugar and adds to the effect of diabetes drugs and insulin[4].

The vendor says its ingredients "haven't been shown to have any significant side effects"[2]. That is too broad. Each ingredient has known cautions, listed below, even if the doses in a 575 mg blend are likely small.

The label itself warns: not for anyone under 18, pregnant or nursing, and ask a physician if you take medication or have a medical condition[1]. FDA records checked October 20, 2026 showed no recalls and no adverse event reports for Arialief. FDA warning letters and FTC actions were not checked.

What side effects are possible?

Possible side effects fall into three groups: digestive upset, individual sensitivity, and problems caused by medicines you already take.

Digestive

Magnesium can cause loose stools or diarrhea, mostly at high doses[3]. L-carnitine can cause stomach upset and a fishy body odor[5]. Butcher's broom has been linked to mild stomach upset[6]. CoQ10 can cause mild digestive upset or trouble sleeping[7].

Sensitivity

Alpha lipoic acid can cause nausea and skin rash[4]. A rare condition, insulin autoimmune syndrome, has been reported with alpha lipoic acid, causing episodes of low blood sugar[8]. Stop and call a doctor if you get a rash or feel shaky and sweaty.

Medication-related

The more likely problems come from mixing ingredients with medicines, covered below. These matter more than the capsule's small doses suggest, because effects can add up over weeks.

Which ingredients deserve extra attention?

Four of the six ingredients carry a specific safety issue worth knowing before you start. The table uses only documented cautions.

IngredientSafety issueWhy it matters
Alpha lipoic acidCan lower blood sugar; rare insulin autoimmune syndromeAdds to diabetes drugs and insulin
Turmeric, 95% curcuminoidsRare acute liver injury with high-dose, high-absorption curcuminLiverTox gives it likelihood score B
L-carnitineRaises TMAO; may blunt thyroid hormoneRelevant with thyroid medicine or a seizure history
CoQ10Mild insomnia or stomach upsetMay interact with warfarin and insulin
Magnesium glycinateDiarrhea at high dosesCaution with kidney disease
Butcher's broomMild stomach upsetTheoretical clash with blood pressure drugs, not studied

Turmeric's liver signal comes from case reports with high-absorption products[9]. The L-carnitine thyroid effect is from a small trial[10]. Our ingredient page covers what each one is.

Which medicines could interact?

Several medicine groups could interact with Arialief's ingredients, so bring the label to a pharmacist if you take any of these:

  • Diabetes drugs and insulin: alpha lipoic acid and CoQ10 may push blood sugar lower[4][7].
  • Warfarin and other blood thinners: CoQ10 may change warfarin's effect, L-carnitine has warfarin case reports, and NCCIH advises caution with turmeric and blood thinners[11].
  • Thyroid hormone: L-carnitine may blunt its effect[10].
  • Bisphosphonates and tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics: space them from magnesium[3].
  • Diuretics and stomach-acid drugs (PPIs): these change magnesium levels[3].
  • Blood pressure drugs and alpha-blockers: a theoretical clash with butcher's broom, not studied.
  • Some cancer drugs: NCCIH flags CoQ10[7].

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and who should ask a doctor first

The label rules out some groups outright, and the ingredient cautions add a few more. Ask a doctor before taking Arialief if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding (the label says not for use)
  • Are under 18 (the label says not for use)
  • Have diabetes or take insulin or diabetes drugs
  • Take warfarin or another blood thinner
  • Take thyroid medicine or have a seizure history
  • Have kidney disease, liver disease or gallbladder disease
  • Have surgery scheduled
  • Take any prescription medicine (the label asks this of everyone)

Also check how to take Arialief: the label says 1 capsule, but the sales FAQ says 2, which doubles every dose above.

Which symptoms need a doctor right away?

Stop taking Arialief and get medical help right away if you notice:

  • Shaking, sweating, confusion or fainting, which can mean low blood sugar
  • Yellow skin or eyes, dark urine or pain in the upper right belly, which can mean liver injury
  • Swelling of the face, lips or throat, or trouble breathing
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising while on a blood thinner
  • A rash that spreads or blisters
  • Severe or ongoing diarrhea with dizziness

For an emergency in the US, call 911. You can also report a supplement reaction to the FDA.

Safety conclusion

For a healthy adult on no medicines, Arialief at 1 capsule a day is unlikely to cause more than mild stomach upset. People on diabetes drugs, warfarin or thyroid medicine should ask a doctor first, because the interactions are the real risk. The undisclosed blend amounts make exact risk hard to judge, which is one more reason to start with the label dose, not the sales page's 2 capsules. Frequently asked questions

Does Arialief have side effects?

Possible side effects are mostly mild: loose stools from magnesium, stomach upset or fishy odor from L-carnitine, nausea or rash from alpha lipoic acid. The larger risk is interactions with diabetes drugs, warfarin or thyroid medicine.

Is Arialief safe to take with diabetes?

Ask your doctor first. Alpha lipoic acid can lower blood sugar and adds to diabetes drugs and insulin, and CoQ10 may interact with insulin. Check your blood sugar more often if your doctor agrees you can try it.

Can Arialief cause diarrhea?

It can, though it is unlikely at the label dose. Magnesium causes diarrhea mainly at high doses, and 1 capsule has 80 mg, well under the 350 mg daily supplement limit. Taking 2 capsules, as the sales FAQ suggests, doubles that.

Can I take Arialief while pregnant?

No. The Arialief label says it is not for pregnant or nursing women or anyone under 18. Several ingredients lack safety data in pregnancy, so talk to your doctor about other options for nerve symptoms.

Has the FDA received complaints about Arialief?

FDA records checked October 20, 2026 showed no recall and no adverse event reports for Arialief. FDA warning letters and FTC actions were not checked. You can see more on our complaints page.
